Phacoemulsification is a powerful and elegant procedure today. As advancements have been made in fluidics and power modulation, we find it amazing that little or no emphasis has been placed upon the quality of the metallurgical engineering along the business end of the machine facing the delicate intraocular environment. We are unaware of any applicable quality standards in phaco probe design or manufacture, so we are once again setting the standards. For more than a decade, Mastel Precision has offered advanced metal finishing on phaco probes, primarily as a service. We have the capability to shape the tips at virtually any angle, can accurately bend shafts as Kelman type of Singer type designs. We have very unique configurations, such as the hexagon Dr. Jack Singer prefers of the Gravlee Safety Bevel Probe designed by Joseph Gravlee, MD.
