The Fine Triamond is the ultimate utilitarian phaco diamond available today. The 300 micron wide tip allows a very small internal opening for the paracentesis as required for most wire instruments. By simply pushing further into the anterior chamber after penetration enlarges the wound symmetrically, maintaining the trapezoidal wound margins (smaller internal/larger external). For more generous side port dimensions, the blade is easily slipped sideways after penetration of Descemet's membrane, which can be especially useful in the soft eye or shallow chamber situations. It is superior in performance for all wound enlargement aspects in phacoemulsification surgery today.
"I designed the Para-Trap Diamond in conjunction with Doug Mastel more than five years ago, in anticipation of bimanual phaco. The knife works spectacularly well for us in creating two side-port incisions that are funnel-shaped, and have the appropriate internal diameter of 1.2mm.
The incision size and shape created by the Para-Trap Diamond knife allows for the easy introduction of all of our handpieces, and allows us to achieve bimanual phaco with the greatest of ease.”
