The Fine Triamond is the ultimate utilitarian phaco diamond available today. The 300 micron wide tip allows a very small internal opening for the paracentesis as required for most wire instruments. By simply pushing further into the anterior chamber after penetration enlarges the wound symmetrically, maintaining the trapezoidal wound margins (smaller internal/larger external). For more generous side port dimensions, the blade is easily slipped sideways after penetration of Descemet's membrane, which can be especially useful in the soft eye or shallow chamber situations. It is superior in performance for all wound enlargement aspects in phacoemulsification surgery today.
The angulated handle is ideal for gaining elegant access in tight maneuver positioning, especially in deep set eyes. The Fine Self-Directing facet attributes (larger on the top and smaller on the bottom) help control tunnel length and entry and are especially useful for wound enlargement as they help to maintain the plane of the incision and minimize false plane formation.
