Key to this design is the elimination of the many edges and sharp corners leading to a complex force field of action on the classic diamond crescents. This makes a much smoother and more controlled dissection and results in a better bed. Ultimately, finding critical surgical planes in soft eye situations, sharpness afforded by ultrathin diamonds is a major benefit.
The Ahmed Super Crescent™ takes a different approach to the physics of the dissection. By approaching more of a square or linear edge right at the dissection shear front, this pentium faceted trapezoidal blade distributes the forces across a larger surface area than other designs giving superb control of depth & plane.

As always thanks for providing the greatest scalpels on earth, as I tell everyone.
Slowly, these glaucoma diamonds are becoming essential for “new-age”
glaucoma procedures. Thanks, Ike Ahmed, MD |
